Profile:

The Foundation for Fresh Produce is a global, non-profit 501(C)(3) dedicated to growing a healthier world by changing the trajectory of human health.  The Foundation for Fresh Produce was founded to forge alliances, increase access, and grow appeal to increase consumption of fruits and vegetables which leads to healthier, happier lives.

In 2023, The Foundation merged with Produce for Better Health, which had a 30-year history of promoting fruits and vegetables in the United States.

In alignment with government guidelines and behavioral science research, the Have A Plant.® campaign launched to inspire people with compelling reasons to believe in the powerful role fruits and vegetables play in their lives, and to support 400g or more of fruits and vegetables consumption daily.

Whether through sought-after research on trends, insights and attitudes toward fruit and vegetable consumption or marketing the brilliance of produce through its award-winning campaigns, the Foundation’s partnerships with government, food industry stakeholders, health professionals and other thought leaders are a driving force for The Foundation.

Areas of work:

  • Scientific Reviews, Consumption Data and Behavioral Research

With 9 out of 10 Americans not eating enough fruits and vegetables in the United States today, The Foundation for Fresh Produce is committed to understanding current fruit and vegetable behaviors and consumption data.  https://fruitsandveggies.org/research/

  •  Nutrition Education

The Foundation engages directly with consumers and influencers through a robust influencer engagement platform, as well as through its digital ecosystem, which includes fruitsandveggies.org, newsletters and social media channels. Our unique ambassador network includes volunteers spanning three points of influence: point of sale (retail); point of service (foodservice); and point of inspiration (digital) who contribute content and thought-leadership throughout the ecosystem extending the Have A Plant® Movement to millions of consumers daily.

The Foundation provides health professionals with continuing education through its Monthly Health and Wellness Professional Webinar Series. Webinars cover various topics like food waste in America to how to pair produce with nutrient-dense proteins to increase fruit and vegetable consumption. This FREE education is available at https://fruitsandveggies.org/expert-professionals/webinars/

  • Partnerships

Partners with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to extend MyPlate messages, particularly making “half your plate fruits and vegetables,” based on the USDA and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

The Foundation actively seeks to grow it partnerships with agencies and organizations to help achieve its mission.
