4.1 Develop a timeline with milestones and achievable goals

5 to 10 a Day
The establishment of clear and concise milestones and goals is essential to
the success of programs.

While the first steps can be somewhat daunting, it is important to have a
clear focus on what can be done and not on what should or could be done.
For this reason the initial goals need to be achievable and set in place a
framework from which to an appropriate long-term program can be
developed.

Goals should to be “SMART”:
  • Specific - provide detail on what you are trying to achieve over a
    particular period of time;
  • Measurable - be able to provide an accurate determination on
    whether your goals have been met;
  • Achievable - provide a goal that is practical to me:
  • Realistic - they must after all be something that can be obtained; and
  • Timely - have a timeline in place.
