DECLARATION VI GENERAL ASSEMBLY AIAM5 – BOGOTA
During the 1th and 2nd November the XII International Congress for the Promotion of Fruit and Vegetables Consumption and the General Assembly of the AIAM5 – Global Alliance for Promoting Fruits and Vegetables Consumption “5 a day” were celebrated in Bogota – Republic of Colombia, attended by 19 representatives of the 27 members of AIAM5.
The importance of strengthening AIAM5 in its managerial, administrative and financial structure counting on strong support from each of the member countries meeting in Bogotá was declared.
Themes are declared to strengthen AIAM5 and promote the consumption of at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day as part of international public policy to improve the habits and healthy lifestyles.
- 1. Perform direct actions at the central level with international cooperation agencies such as WHO – PAHO – FAO – INCAP – UNICEF – IICA – IFAD – WFP among others in order to make presence as AIAM5, to receive technical support and recognition from them to the Alliance efforts of promoting fruits and vegetables consumption.
2 Achieve United Nations decrees the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables, which is an AIAM5 initiative, in order to raise global awareness about the importance of daily consumption of at least five (5) servings of fruits and vegetables.
- Perform a unified and approved action regarding the message and activities to celebrate jointly the World Day Fruits and Vegetables with impact on media and society.
- Conduct scientific activities to strengthen initiatives of promotion fruits and vegetables consumption, such as 5 a day, in order to reduce the incidence of non-communicable diseases, as well as to spread relevant information on food and nutrition activities, including gastronomic advices to increase fruits and vegetables consumption through the recovery of the popular culinary especially those dishes rich in fruits and vegetables.
It is signed in Bogota in November 2016, having representatives of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and FAO Representative for Colombia as witnesses.
