AIAM5 History
The International Alliance of Associations and Movements 5 a day – AIAM5- (in Spanish: Alianza Internacional de Asociaciones y Movimientos “5 al dia”),, was founded in 2011 in the context of the VII International Congress for the Promotion of the Consumption of Fruits and Vegetables celebrated in Madrid – Spain. With AIAM5 it was consolidated in a formal way, what from 2005 on had been working in an informal way, around the congresses organized by the group of Latin-American Associations for the Promotion of the Consumption of Fruit and Vegetables 5 a day. 17th, October 2011 in Madrid, Spain, the Associations “5 a day” of Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Venezuela, Uruguay, Chile and Spain, signed up its constitution.
The International Fruit and Vegetable Alliance IFAVA, that has been AIAM5′ collaborator partner since 2012, decided in the meeting held in Phoenix Arizona-USA in March 2015, joining AIAM5 contributing with 4 full members. Phoenix Agreements between AIAM5 and IFAVA have promoted the change of the name of the Alliance to adapt it to a new expansion strategy, and has been renamed as AIAM5 – Global Alliance to Promote Fruits and Vegetables Consumption”5 a day”
